Forced to wander the streets, begging for places to sleep and scavenging from other people’s trash, Claire and her best friend Kelsey must rely on their wits, the kindness of strangers, and each other to stay alive.

After years of living off the land, they come across an out-of-the-way school—one that just might change everything forever. The girls make a new friend, Liam, and meet a very special teacher who just might be the answer to their prayers. In hopes of ending their aimless wandering and being adopted, they stay close to Liam, and together they set off to investigate an exciting new discovery.

But why is there a mysterious path behind their new friend’s house, and where does it lead?
