Life is good when you’re a library cart: the place is bustling with kids, you’re surrounded by friends, you get to carry books around all day, and there’s always a job to do. Until the friends disappear, and you’re shut away and forgotten about.

This is exactly what happens to one little library cart named Red, who discovers that the phrase “out of sight, out of mind” is all too true. Alone for the very first time, Red’s anger turns to despair. Days become weeks, weeks become years…and everyone forgets about Red the little library cart.

But one day, Red is pulled back to reality. There’s no sign of his dear old friend, but a new friendly face is on the scene…and with something called a “field trip” coming up, life is about to get a lot more exciting.

Now, this library cart is on the move! As his adventures take him all over town and in and out of danger, Red learns that once you leave unfamiliar territory, anything can happen. He comes to find that as much as he loves his books, there’s more to life than just the library, more to do than just carry books around, and so much more to learn.

Red realizes that not all friendships can last forever, and that’s okay. Because—as long as he survives the horrible new librarian—this little library cart will learn one more important lesson: best friends will always come back when you need them.
